May 18, 2009 On Thursday, May 14, 2009, Ed Reinfurt, the Executive Director of the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation visited Watervliet Elementary School and held a Young Watervliet Scientist Forum for the Sixth Grade Classes. All of the students were encouraged to think like real scientists and to ask the same questions that real scientists ask: “Why?” “How Come?” and “What If” in order to solve real problems and real world needs. Electric cars, renewable energy and the Smart Grid were some of the topics the students discussed with Mr. Reinfurt. In addition, five lucky students were the winners of solar powered cell phone chargers!!
