Twelve students in the fourth through sixth grades competed in Watervliet Elementary School's annual spelling bee.

Sixth-grader becomes WES spelling champ for third straight time

Brandie Lance, a student in Andrea DeLollo’s sixth-grade class, made winning her third spelling bee in a row look effortless as she spelled the word “laborious” in the final round of competition at Watervliet Elementary School on January 20.

Runner up Alexis Dykes, a fifth-grader in Paul Travers class, gave an outstanding effort in what was a close contest to the end.

Twelve students in all, from the fourth to sixth grades, advanced to the annual school spelling bee, after being successful in classroom spelling competitions.
