Students prepare free soup for Watervliet's tree lighting ceremony

Students in Mr. Gaddy’s Food and Nutrition class are preparing soup for the city of Watervliet’s holiday tree lighting ceremony Saturday, Dec. 3.
The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Veteran’s Park at the corner of 16th Street and Second Avenue. In addition to the free soup, there will be horse drawn wagon rides, caroling, an ornament distribution, a visit from Santa and more at the event.
Mr. Gaddy’s class has prepared 12 gallons of soup including butternut squash bisque, French onion soup and bacon, corn and potato chowder.
Canned goods and other food items will be accepted for the food pantry at the event as will unwrapped toys for the Watervliet Housing Authority’s Gift Tag Program.
