Varsity wrestling and boys basketball programs finding success on the mat and the court this season

Coach Lane and the varsity wrestling program are full speed ahead after winning the Hawkeye Duals in Cooperstown over the holiday break! The boys went 5-0, with senior Connor Lyons (WNYT Athlete of the Week) named tournament MVP, and sophomore Patrick Moore won his 100th match!

This was the second tournament the wrestling has won this year, as the Cannoneers also took first place in the Glens Falls Mat Mania duals. The Cannoneers are currently 14-2 overall, and 4-0 in the Colonial Council, outscoring their conference foes 253-59 during that stretch. They are ranked #2 in Division II in Section Two, and are honorable mentions in the state (see links below).

Meanwhile, Coach DiBacco and the varsity boys' basketball team enter the second half of their season at 9-1 overall and tied for first place in the Colonial Council. The Cannoneers are currently ranked as the #2 Class B team in Section Two and #11 in NYSPHSSA!

Senior Joey Atkins has emerged as one of the best players in Section Two, and has garnered both Division 1 & 2 interest. The highlight of the season thus far was when the JV & Varsity teams visited the Senior Center during the holidays to serve meals, wash dishes, and give back to our community. It was great to see the boys in that capacity. The seniors gave them a standing ovation when they left!
