Watervliet hosted its second annual Alumni Wrestling Night in January. The event offers an opportunity for former WHS wrestlers and coaches to see old friends and past teammates.
TURNOUT STRONG FOR ALUMNI WRESTLING EVENT

The Watervliet Athletic Department hosted its second annual Alumni Wrestling Night on January 11 at Watervliet High School. The gathering brings past WHS wrestlers and coaches back to the school, providing an opportunity for former teammates to get reacquainted, and helps promote the sport of wrestling in the community.
Each alumni wrestler received a gray athletic t-shirt and was invited to watch a regular varsity match as current Watervliet wrestlers competed with Schalmont's wrestling team.
“It was a really great night!” said teacher and wrestling coach Dennis Lane. “Many of the alumni enjoyed the match and the opportunity to catch up with some past friends and teammates.”
More than 35 alumni attended the event, and Lane added that several decades were represented as wrestlers from the late 1970's to recent graduates attended. “We had such strong response, that we plan on hosting one again next year.”
