Watervliet coach scores 200th win

Watervliet Girls Basketball Coach Gordie Johnson pocketed his 200th win Tuesday as the first place Lady Cannoneers defeated Albany Academy for Girls 51-35.

During media interviews after the game, Johnson praised the program, its hard working players and gave a nod to the athletes who were part of the team when the program first began 13 years ago.

Coach Johnson also delivered a special message to his mother in the St. Mary’s Hospice Center.

“I just want to say: Ma, thanks,” the coach said.
