Welcome Back Message from WES Principal Loida Lewinter


Dear Watervliet Elementary School Families,

I am excited to welcome you to a new and exciting year at Watervliet Elementary School. The summer has given us all including students, teachers, and staff, time to recharge, relax, and refresh for the coming school year. Additionally, this summer brought a new addition to my own family, a baby brother for my two boys. I will be home with my family’s new addition until early October. During my leave, Mr. Wareing, Assistant Principal, and Mr. Stevens, Director of Literacy/UPK will be leading WES.

Some important information as we approach the new school year.

  Student’s classroom assignments are now available on the Parent Portal.

  Each grade level has a supply list that has been posted on the district website.

  The district website is a valuable resource for information and news regarding our school and district.

Please note the following important dates for our first weeks of school.

   Pre-K Orientation - Wednesday, August 30 starting at 9:30am

  Kindergarten Orientation- Tuesday, September 5 at 1:00pm, Meet your teacher & drop off supplies

  First day of school for all students- Wednesday, September 6 with the day beginning at 8:35am. All staff will be in the halls and around the building to help students find their way to their classrooms.

  WES PTA meeting- September 12 at 6:30pm

  School Pictures- September 15

  PTA Welcome Back Night - September 15 from 6:00-8:00pm

   Meet the Teacher Nights:
    o Pre K, KDG, Grades 1, 2- September 19 at 6:00pm
    o Grades 3, 4, 5, 6- September 20 at 6:00pm

   Early Release Staff Development - September 21 Pre K dismissal at 11:00am, WES dismissal at 11:30am

We are looking forward to the numerous exciting and educational opportunities for our students this coming school year including assemblies, field trips, and various learning experiences.
