Career Exploration Internship Program

WHS seniors share their experiences with CEIP

The Career Exploration Internship Program (CEIP) at Watervliet High School is a full year course for seniors. Students can participate one to two internships (sometimes more) in almost any career area. Students complete 108 hours of internship time over a 10-month time period (or 54 hours for two internships), which is about two hours a week, if necessary.

Students can attend after school, and on weekends depending on the career. Some students who maintain a high cumulative average and must go during school hours, are permitted to do so with administrative and parental approval.

Other important factors to note are that students provide their own transportation, they work with confidentiality terms, and they work with placement mentors to coordinate schedules. These select seniors gain a college-type flexible class atmosphere because all students are on different schedules with varying deadlines. Class work, internship journals, class discussions, internship group sharing, and projects are given to achieve course credit, as well as completion of hours.

Four of the top seniors share their current placements, experiences and thoughts on the program in a series of short videos.
